Onion color sorter is a modern agricultural machinery equipment used in onion processing to efficiently and accurately screen and grade onions. When onions enter the detection area through the conveyor belt, optical sensors or cameras immediately capture the reflected light information on the surface of the onions, convert it into electrical signals, and transmit them to the control system. The control system analyzes and processes the signals, compares them with the preset standard parameters, and determines whether the onions meet the preset screening criteria. When onions that do not meet the standards are detected, it will quickly issue instructions to blow them away with high-pressure gas or remove them with mechanical devices, thereby achieving the screening of onions.

Onions are mostly nearly spherical or flattened in shape, consisting of multiple layers of fleshy scale leaves wrapped around the central apical bud. Common colors include purple red, yellow, etc. The skin is tough, thin and dry in texture, and has a paper like outer layer to protect the internal scale leaves. The selection criteria for onion color vary depending on the variety and use. The shape should be spherical or flattened, with a smooth surface and no signs of pests or diseases.
